
The 8th May 2020 marked 75 years since Britain and the Allies celebrated Victory in Europe.
Sadly due to the ongoing Coronavirus panademic the large scale celebrations many of us had planned to mark VE Day were rightly scaled back. The Lord-Lieutenant and Mrs Simpson enjoyed the good weather and a spot of tea in the garden, like many across the country the Lord-Lieutenant got into the spirit of the day and wore the uniform his father wore fighting in Tunisia with the 2nd Lothians and Border Horse.
King George VI broadcast an address to the entire nation at 9pm on the 8th May 1945, Her Majesty The Queen addressed the nation precisely 75 years after her father did at the same time, 9pm.
